And on the day
A fantastic day was had by all. The weather forecast wasn't brilliant with the risk of thunderstorms in the morning, however it held off and a rather hot and humid day was given to us.
Alfaz 1 played out of their socks.
First Round - top in their group, 3 games 3 wins.
Second Round - won
Semi Final - won
Sadly lost to Rojales in the final 5 goals to 7.
Alfaz 2 played brilliantly. Most of the girls had never played a netball match before and had probably only on 3 occasions had a full quota on court for practice. Needless to say the result was not the same for the 2nd team but their spirits were lifted fantastically by their one win. Well done to all of you.
Well done to all of the Alfaz Players and team.
And congratulations to the winners after a fantastic final.
Thanks also to all our visiting teams from Valencia, Rojales, La Manga and Alicante - we hope that you enjoyed the day. Well done to all of you for keeping going on such a hot and humid day.
Of course many thanks to all the umpires on the day who have given up their time for the sport and for the charity day. Not to forget thanking the helpers for timekeeping, scoring, marking out the court, moving the posts etc etc etc
That's for the netball - and for the charity side of the day:-
Thank you to the Major of Alfaz del Pi, Lisa Griffin whose came up with the idea in the first place and gave us use of Brew Rock for the day, Cap Blanch for the tennis court use, our sponsors and all the people who gave us raffle and auction prizes.
Once everything has been added up we will post here the amount that we have raised and what has been given to each of the Cancer Charities that have been chosen.
A big thank you to everyone.
Perhaps we might do it again next year - what do you think?

Umpires and Match Scoring
Can you please ask your umpires to come and say hello to me so that I can meet them. I'll be the one in the Alfaz team shirt and white skirt (not black).
I've allocated umpires to each game but I'm afraid that I haven't been able to allocate scorers.
I have produced score cards for each match which I will give to the umpires on the day so that they know which matches they will be umpiring.
I don't mind if you want to swap games amongst yourselves as long as each one is covered. Although I have made sure that we have at least one umpire C or above on each game.
If you have scorers then of course you can give the score cards to them for filling in. Also if you have anyone who would like to volunteer for scoring more games then we'd welcome them. I expect that I am going to have to do my own scoring but certainly for later rounds it would be helpful if there were two scorers for each match.
Anyway I'm sure it will all be alright on the day!!!!

Only two days to go
Good morning all, only two days to go. I have to admit that I have never organised a tournament before so I'm doing my best and there are a few things that are springing to mind as we get closer.
While this is primarily a fun day, I'm sure it's going to get quite competitive. So to make sure we all play to the same rules, I've made a small tweak to the rules.
Five players from any team must be on court for any match to commence. Where any team fails to take the court at the start of the match, the team ready to play will be awarded 1 goal for every 45 seconds the team is absent. The match will be started on the umpire’s whistle, no extra time will be allowed.
You can find the updated rules for printing here: Tournament rules - 2 page pdf
You might want to bring umbrellas - not that we are expecting rain, but you might need some shade.
Please print off anything you need for the day before you come as we will have no printing available on the day. You can find what you need here:- Tournament documents
Please also get all your players to sign the disclaimer before attending - this will also form your team registration so one sheet for each team please.
Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
And if you think I've forgotten anything then please tell me.

Hi all, as you can imagine there is a lot to organise right now.
The tournament rules have now been published and you can find them on here. Please help us to keep our costs down by printing all the documents that you need and bringing them with you.
I promise that by Wednesday next week you will have all the documents you need in one place and a list of all the documents you will need.
Thank you for your patience and I'll be back soon.

Welcome
Hello and welcome to the new Alfaz Ladies Netball Tournament blog.
On 21st September 2019 we will be holding our inaugural netball tournament to remember two of our special members who were sadly both taken from us last year to cancer.
Lisa from Brew Rock had the fantastic idea of holding a charity netball tournament to remember both of these friends of netball.
We will be starting at 12 noon and expect to run until 5:30pm when we will have a presentation to the winners and runners up.
The charities we have chosen to support are cancer charities and we are working with the Dignity initiative as well as other charities.

Come and have a great time for all the family.
Let's get Netball put on the map in Spain
and raise some money for charity at the same time.
This year we are welcoming teams from:
Alfaz del Pi - Our local team
Torrevieja - 120 km
La Manga - 190 km
Pinosa - 110 km
Valencia - 144 km
We have 8 teams in our tournament and as you can see some of our visitors are travelling some distance to join in. So come along and support them and have a fun day out with us.
If it's a success this year - who knows what we might do in the future.
